Are you looking to expand your company, create more jobs and fill those positions, but aren’t sure where to begin? You may want to consult a company that offers business consultation and marketing services, as well as a lesser-known and incredibly valuable resource for growing businesses – staffing services.
What is a Staffing Agency?
A staffing agency or staffing service is a third-party employment service that helps match open positions to qualified candidates. Sometimes, these services are simply used as a tool for businesses to find the right employees, while at other times they actually provide not only employment opportunities but pay, benefits and more. Staffing services can help your business find the best possible employees for every type of position.
How Hiring Works
There are typically three different hiring situations through which staffing services will fill positions. These include:
-
Temporary – When employees are hired on a temporary basis through a hiring agency, they typically know the beginning and end date of their employment upfront. These positions do not usually have long training periods, and pay, benefits and other aspects of compensation are usually handled through the staffing service.
-
Temporary-to-permanent – A lot of the people who hire into a new job through hiring agencies on a temporary basis do so with the hope that their position will become a permanent one. Also referred to as temporary-to-hire, these positions are usually filled by staffing services but may lead to permanent employment should the company be satisfied with the employees’ work and have enough resources.
-
Permanent – In permanent position fills – also known as direct hires – a company will work with a staffing agency in order to find qualified candidates, then will offer the position and its benefits to the chosen employee. After this, the employee will be a permanent part of the company’s team, and will usually not be involved with the staffing agency any further.
The type of position fill used for a particular opening will depend on the needs of the employer, as well as their agreement with the staffing agency. Be sure to ask about these things upfront, when working with or hiring on through any third-party employer!
